Congratulations
OJAS would like to congratulate OAS member and Oklahoma science educator, Suzie Stevens Edens, who received the Shell Science Teaching Award for her positive impact on her students, school and community through exemplary classroom science teaching. Ms. Edens, who teaches at Latta High School in Ada, Oklahoma, was honored at a special banquet and ceremony at NSTA’s 59th National Conference on Science Education in San Francisco earlier this month. Activities
OJAS sponsors regional and state scientific competitions and meetings. We also recognize educators, scientists and organizations for scientific endeavors within the state that support various secondary school student research programs, including student awards for outstanding scientific research papers and presentations.

Transactions of the Oklahoma Junior Academy of Science an annual publication of the outstanding scientific papers presented by junior and senior high school students at both regional and statewide meetings.

Annual Meetings
The OJAS sponsors a state meeting each spring. The meeting is the OJAS State Competition held in late March or early April in conjunction with the Oklahoma ISSEF competition. This meeting is held at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. The agenda includes secondary student research paper competition from the regional finalists. The program includes oral presentaions, award presentations, and Junior Academy business.
